October 2026
Data Analytics for Productivity
A hands-on course on turning everyday organisational data into evidence for decisions. Participants work through the full cycle: collecting and cleaning data, organising it in spreadsheets, analysing it with formulas, pivot tables and charts, and presenting findings clearly to managers. Exercises are built around realistic workplace data.
Who it is for and what you will learn
Who it is for. Officers who compile reports, track performance indicators or prepare briefs, and want to work faster and with more confidence in their figures.
You will be able to

Cybersecurity for Productivity
A practical course on staying safe while working digitally. It explains the threats staff meet most often, including phishing, weak passwords, malware and social engineering, and builds the habits that stop them: securing devices and accounts, handling data safely, working securely on mobile and remote connections, and knowing what to do when something goes wrong.
Who it is for and what you will learn
Who it is for. All staff who use computers, email and online services at work, whatever their technical background.

AI Certified
A five-day introduction to artificial intelligence for the workplace. Participants learn what AI is and is not, how generative AI tools work, and how to use them to draft, summarise, analyse and plan more effectively. The course gives equal weight to responsible use: checking outputs, protecting sensitive data, and understanding bias and accountability.

Who it is for. Professionals in any role who want to use AI tools confidently and responsibly in their daily work. No technical background is required.

Digital Marketing, E-commerce and Entrepreneurship
A practical course on growing a business online. It covers building a digital presence, marketing through social media, search and email, setting up and running online sales, and accepting digital payments. Participants also develop a simple plan for turning an idea into a viable digital business, with attention to customers, costs and measuring results.

Who it is for. Entrepreneurs, small business owners, young people starting enterprises, and staff who support enterprise development programmes.

E-learning Content Production
A course on designing and producing digital learning that people actually complete. Participants apply instructional design principles to plan a course, then create content with authoring tools, record and edit short videos and narration, build quizzes and interactive activities, and package the result for a learning management system.

Pre-summit Trainings
A programme of short professional courses held ahead of the Connected Africa Summit, in four tracks: Network Security, AI Certified, Data Analytics with Power BI, and Cloud Computing. Each track is intensive and hands-on, so that participants arrive at the summit with current, practical skills in its key technology themes.

Cybersecurity and Analytics
A course that combines cybersecurity fundamentals with the data skills used to detect and respond to threats. Participants learn how attacks unfold, where security data comes from, such as system and network logs, and how to analyse it to spot unusual activity, assess risk and support an effective response.

Who it is for. ICT and security officers, system administrators and analysts who support their organisation's security.
You will be able to

Fundamentals of Project Management
A practical introduction to delivering projects on time, within budget and to the expected standard. Participants learn the project life cycle, how to define scope and objectives, build a schedule and budget, identify and manage risks, engage stakeholders, and track progress through to closure, using common tools and templates.

A course on communicating clearly and working well together in modern, hybrid workplaces. It covers professional writing and email, presenting information with impact, running productive meetings, and using digital collaboration tools for shared documents, messaging and virtual meetings, along with the etiquette that makes teams effective.

AI for SDG
A ten-day course on how artificial intelligence can help address the Sustainable Development Goals. Participants explore real applications in areas such as agriculture, health, education and climate, learn how AI projects are scoped and evaluated, and work in teams to design a responsible AI solution to a development challenge relevant to Kenya.

How is this different from the free training?
The free and subsidised programmes run online. These courses are taught in person, in a classroom, over a set block of days, and carry a course fee.
How do I pay?
Through the Smart Academy portal when you register. If your organisation is paying for you, generate an invoice from the portal and share it with your finance office.
Can my organisation book several staff at once?
Yes. Group registrations can be done on the portal, and a single invoice can be generated for the whole group.
Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. Every participant receives a certificate of completion at the end of the training.
